Where Will You Celebrate Easter This Year?
How about some EGG-stra fun with tripsology
Sometimes it feels like the kids are off school a lot these days. It seems that this spring break has become almost as important as the big summer holiday we all look forward to. Having spoken to a few friends about this I am told that pretty much all of them are heading for sunnier climes this Easter. I would imagine that this would be quite costly but here at tripsology, we have found some scorching hot deals to send you and your family away this Easter without breaking the bank…or your eggs!
Our travel partners have some cracking (sorry!) options at realistic prices, allowing hard working Mums and Dads the chance to head off for a sunshine break without worrying about how expensive it will be. Just think, you won’t have to wait until July to get your flip-flops on!
As well as splashing around in the pool and lazing under a shady palm tree, taking a holiday at Easter-time means that you are likely to experience some wonderful celebrations around the world. Easter as you know is the most important date in the liturgical calendar for Christians all over the world and some of the celebrations are quite dazzling and far more exciting than rolling your chocolate egg down the garden path, symbolizing the stone which was rolled away from Jesus’ tomb, to herald the resurrection of Christ.
Easter Holidays in Spain
Spain for example is a great place to catch some of the Easter processions, especially in Andalusia and the city of Seville. However, Malaga is quite a spectacle during Holy Week too and within easy reach of the popular coastal resorts of the Costa Del Sol. Holy Week (Semana Santa) processions make their way through cities, towns and villages with colourful floats being held aloft by clergy and parishioners. As well as the sombre significance of these events, there’s also plenty of eating, drinking and family celebrations too. Regardless of religious convictions, it’s great fun to watch and just soak up the atmosphere of it all.
Nerja, Spain
A good choice would be Nerja, a quaint seaside town on the eastern stretch of the south coast that offers clean, pretty beaches and a good choice of bars and restaurants. The old quarter remains unspoilt with narrow, winding streets, whitewashed houses with wrought iron terraces overflowing with vibrant flowers…pretty much the picture postcard image of Spanish villages. Further along the coast to the west of the Costa del Sol, families can enjoy the bustling resorts of Marbella, Benalmadena and Estepona.
The Canary Islands
The Canary Islands of Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife also make fantastic Easter holiday destinations and the weather is likely to be pretty decent too!
Easter Holidays in the Dominican Republic
If you can face the long flight, there are also some great deals for cost effective All Inclusive options. You could be heading to the Dominican Republic. Just two hours south of Miami, here you can experience a warm welcome from the island’s hospitable locals. It really is a paradise playground of top beaches and colourful luxury resorts and hotels. Going all-inclusive is a great way of saving money, especially when kids want endless soft drinks, ice creams and suchlike. It also means that once you’ve paid for the holiday, you don’t really need a huge sum of spending money to eat, drink and be merry.
Staycations in the UK for Easter
So, how about staycations? If you don’t have the holidays available from work to head off on a foreign adventure, you might just want to spend a couple of days here on home turf. Sometimes a change is as good as a rest and you don’t need to go far in the UK to find a pretty spot to recharge the batteries.
Scotland
Scotland is an ideal place to spend a few days among some of the finest scenery in the world. A backdrop of lush countryside, dramatic mountains and pretty lochs await you along with a warm welcome…although we can’t guarantee good weather. The phrase ‘four seasons in one day’ might have been coined purely with Scotland in mind.
Scottish Highlands
If the Scottish Highlands appeal to you, then Aviemore is a popular choice for families at this time of year and there’s always fun-filled activities to be had at MacDonald Hotels & resorts in the area. Or, an easy city break to Glasgow or Edinburgh can pack a punch when it comes to entertaining kids.
