Half Term Is Looming…
Check out where’s hot this October with our great ideas!
By now the summer holidays feel like a dim and distant memory, but there’s still time to jet off for some sun, sea and sand before the year is out. We know it can be pricey keeping kids entertained on home turf so tripsologists have recommended that it might actually work out cheaper to simply pack up and let off some steam in sunnier weather.
tripsologists have picked some of their hotspots to bask in that late season sunshine.
There are some great October deals along with some inspiration for later, winter sun with Cosmos. If you fancy going a little further afield, there are some cracking options for long haul holidays. You could be headed for exotic, distant shores such as Sri Lanka, Bali, Mauritius and many more. Although if you’re only going for one week or less you might not fancy such a long flight. There are still some great packages to be had for Florida at this time of year too. It’s not called The Sunshine State for nothing and average temperatures in October still linger around 24C/75F, so if it’s a winter tan you’re after, this is a good bet. If you fancy some quality time as a family but a little closer to home, then there are certainly plenty of options for half term in the UK.
Britain’s best theme parks will welcome you and your little darlings and there’s plenty to keep them smiling all day long. Enjoy all the fun of the fair at some of these exciting pleasure parks:
- Legoland Windsor
- Alton Towers
- Chessington World of Adventures
- Thorpe Parke
- Drayton Manor Theme Park
- Cadbury World
For any families with chocoholics then you can’t miss out on Cadbury World in Birmingham. You can indulge yourself and uncover a world of chocolate delights. Did you know that the first Cadbury Easter Egg was made in 1875? As a nation of chocolate lovers, we’ve been enjoying Cadbury goodies ever since!
Still like to be beside the seaside? Even in the cooler months, we seem to continue our love affair with the British coast. You may not get to paddle in the sea or sun bathe in your swimsuit on the beach but there’s still loads of fun to be had with your clothes on!
A great autumn choice is a trip to Blackpool. Perfect for half term, Blackpool is one of the UK’s most popular and iconic seaside resorts. This comes as no surprise given the range of year-round attractions.
Autumn just wouldn’t be the same without a trip to see the Blackpool Illuminations. The magical light extravaganza keeps the resort aglow from the September until early November. At 10 kilometres long and using over one million light bulbs, the Illuminations are an awesome spectacle. Catch this year’s Illuminations from 4 September – 8 November 2015
Another of our half term favourites is London and unsurprisingly, was voted the UK’s top city to visit by readers of Conde Naste Traveller magazine. A great city to visit at any time of the year but there’s certainly no shortage of activities and attractions if you need to fill your day with excitement. Our friends at hotels.com have some great accommodation in the city with reasonable prices too.
London boasts a fabulous choice of theatres and music venues and there is always a spectacular musical treat going on in the west end. In the heart of theatre land you’ll find an abundance of shows for all the family. Why not browse ticketmaster for some great ideas on what’s hot in the big city this autumn.
On a short, city break, it’s sometimes difficult to squeeze in all of the sights and landmarks and London has such a long ‘to do’ list that it’s hard to tick all the boxes in one go. However, an easy way to pack in all this city has to offer is by taking an open top bus tour. Experience the best of London aboard The Original Tour’s famous red open-top buses. London’s most popular sightseeing tour offers its guests the ultimate introduction to the capital and includes entertaining English-speaking guides, an unrivalled fleet of superb modern buses, three main tour routes, two of which offer full multi-lingual commentary, three fascinating free walking tours, a fantastic free Thames Hop-on Hop-off river cruise pass, and an exclusive Kids’ Club. All hop-on hop-off tickets are valid for 24-hours across over 80 conveniently located stops. Simply, sit back, relax and don’t forget the camera!
