Summer on Brighton Beach
What to do and where to stay in Brighton
I love love love Brighton – especially in the summer! I’ve been to Brighton quite a few times since my sister moved there for University in 2010. From family trips for her graduation to trips I’ve taken on my own for some quality sister time…I’ve loved it every time.
I think it’s such a quirky place with cute shops and amazing places to eat and drink. And of course not forgetting the Brighton Pier, where you can spend you pennies and win some stuffed animals!
Where to stay in Brighton
For me it’s always been easy, I usually stay with my sister but for her graduation we stayed in a beauty of a hotel, the Brighton Grand Hotel. It was AMAZING. I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you’re looking for the perfect location for exploring the beach city. We had two big beautiful rooms with some of the most comfy hotel beds I’ve ever slept on. I was luckily enough to not have to pay for it (thanks mum and dad) but by the cocktail list I can guarantee it wasn’t exactly cheap! So if you get the chance to stay here do not pass it up.
There are plenty of other options in Brighton that are more affordable.
Things to do in Brighton
There is so much to see and do in Brighton, but some of my top favourite things are:
- The Laines: these quirky little streets up from the coast line are filled with local shops with such cute present ideas and gifts for yourself. You could spend hours and hours walking around the laines just taking it all in.
- Brighton Pier: This is one of my favourite things to do in Brighton, with the slot machines and prizes to be won as well as a classic British seaside tradition of fish and chips in newspaper. Ending the day with an ice cream cone of course!
- Night Out in Brighton: There are plenty of options for a night out in Brighton, my favourite places to go are the ones along the front of the seaside near the pier. It’s something so unique Brighton has so you may as well experience it.
- Beach Day: This goes hand in hand with a trip to Brighton Pier. In the summer you can lie up on the stone beach and enjoy the sound of a classic British summer. It can get a wee bit cold so bring some layers, but also sun cream…as I said, a classic British summer = getting burnt and also catching the cold!
Since I took my first and last holiday to Brighton my sister has moved slightly along the coast to Worthing – a smaller place, a large seaside town. The pace is a little slower but it is still as beautiful along the seaside and it has those quintessential beach houses, perfect for the gram!
Overall, my experience of Brighton and Hove – and the south coast of England is a positive and somewhere I’d continue to visit whether or not my sister was there. However, my heart will always lie in Scotland!
I love to travel and I love to write, which means writing about my travel plans or experiences goes hand in hand! Whether I’m escaping on a quick weekend break or taking a long-haul flight across the Atlantic you’ll be sure to hear about it.
