Where to Stay & Eat During Fashion Week – London’s Calling…
If you love the hustle and bustle of a big city, especially at its most glamorous time of year then you’ll love London through Fashion Week – but really any time of year! I’ve been to LFW at least one season per year, with some friends in PR I manage to nab some tickets pretty easily. But honestly I’d choose to go to London any weekend, Fashion Week or not. It is a city that captures my heart each and every time I go there – the glitz and glamour of it all.
This year I plan on attending Fashion Week later in the year, but for those going soon you won’t want to miss out on some of the best food and best places to stay in London.
For me, these are two of the most important parts of travel (besides the sightseeing) – amazing food and somewhere to stay. Whether you are looking luxury or just to get you through your exciting break away, both are necessary.
When people ask me, ‘where should I eat in London?’ I always find it so difficult to answer, it is such a huge city with amazing restaurants and eateries on every corner.
So I’ll try to narrow it down…I decided to do my top eating picks by area of London – believe me this was seriously hard to do!
Best Restaurants in London
Kensington & Chelsea:
Da Marios, Italian.
If you are looking fresh Italian food, authentic surroundings and great service (as well as reasonable pricing) you’re in the right place. Booking in advance is advised, I don’t think I’ve ever seen it without a queue out the door!
Soho & Covent Garden:
Banana Tree
Thai, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Singaporean…you get it all here! I try avoid ‘chain restaurants’ but this is a local chain, only found in London areas and started off right in the heart of the city as a cafe. There is something for everyone on the phenomenal menu with great fresh food, and superb cocktails as well.
Westminster & St James’s:
GBR, Dukes
A beautiful fine dining British restaurant with amazing drinks. You’ll find this gem inside the unique boutique hotel, Duke’s of London. The Bottomless Brunch is one my my favourite things to do in London – bottomless bubbles with your brunch for two hours! 
Oxford Street, Mayfair and Marylebone:
Roux at the Landau
Gourmet French/European Cuisine, so it may not be for everyone but it was perfect for us. It is the complete fine dining experience with the price tag that comes with that. It overall is a unique experience, something you won’t forget for a long time.
Market Food:
If you’re looking for something on-the-go, wanting to experience the full hustle and bustle of city life in London you have to explore the London Food Markets. My favourites are Borough Market and Camden Market.
They have some of the tastiest food and drink to offer. If you don’t mind waiting in queues for the unique food during the weekend rush then definitely give the markets a go – during the week it is calm in comparison.
Now you know where you’ll dine for your break in London, it’s time to see where you’ll stay. This can be a pricey part of the process but after years of traveling to London I’ve explored so many different options – some were great…and some not so great. So I decided to pick my favourites from the central area of London, from low budget to complete luxury…(remember city prices are always inflated).
£, cheap and cheerful hotels:
Central London Budget Hotel
Just as it says on the tin, an (almost) central location and a clean budget hotel. The showers and toilets are mainly shared with very basic facilities throughout the hotel. However if you’re looking somewhere on a strict low budget and more concerned with whats outside your bedroom walls than what’s inside then this will work well for you.
Travelodge London Central Kings Cross
A perfect centrally located hotel for exploring the city and just a short walk from Kings Cross Station. The hotel is basic but with good facilities for a short break and all you need to rest your head.
Bigger Group? Stay in the Kensington Holland Park Safe Stay Hostel. I stayed here with a group of 15 people and we had a great time. Three tiered bunk beds, an ensuite to share between all of us but that didn’t ruin our fun! It was all very modern, probably one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.
££, middle of the range hotel’s with some luxury:
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London, Tower of London
A perfectly located hotel with a boutique hotel feel and a middle of the range price tag. With brand loyalty taking over this is one of my favourites, but only because I know what to expect from a Hilton hotel. On top of clean rooms and great facilities you also get amazing views of London both during the day and at night.
Park Plaza London Riverbank
Another modern hotel in a great spot of London. You’ll find this hotel has good facilities and is right on the River Thames so you really do wake up and go to sleep right in the centre of the city.
£££, going all out luxury 5* Hotels:
The Goring, London
Complete luxury to splash out on. You are greeted like royalty as soon as you arrive to the moment you leave so you can sit back and relax in this luxurious haven in London. Indulge and enjoy the spectacular food, the comfortable living areas and the incredible facilities available. I enjoyed a night away here with my girlfriends…we found a deal online!
The Langham London
A stunning 5* hotel at the top of Regent Street, complete luxury as shown by the price per night! Its wonderful location and beautiful interiors lend itself to a luxurious break to London, you won’t want to leave your room. With fantastic food also being served in the Roux at the Landau (see my restaurant choices earlier)! Everything is local to this central London hotel from shopping and restaurants to theatres and museums. This place is still on my bucketlist for London…I wonder when I’ll get that ticked off…
So although most of my trips to London revolve around the world of fashion and all things glitzy I love going to London any other time of year too. In the rain, snow, fog and summer sunshine London will always have some of the best restaurants and best places to stay in all the places I have ventured to.
I am an avid traveller with an extreme case of wanderlust. I don’t remember the last time I didn’t have a trip booked to look forward to! I’m ready to take on travelling the world and life as a newlywed. Engaged and planning a wedding and our dream honeymoon, all while trying to fit in weekend trips away in between!
