Unusual Places to Stay Around the World
If, like me, you travel often then you might find yourself getting bored of conventional hotel rooms that all begin to look the same after a while. Lately I’ve found myself yearning for something more unique, quirky and unusual and I’ve managed to unearth some truly terrific places around the world so if you’re looking for something different, I’ve found it for you.
The Library Hotel, New York City
I simply adore books so I would relish the chance to stay in this book themed hotel. There are books in every room so if you find yourself finishing your current read with nothing else to follow then simply slip one off the shelves and dive into the story.
Oh and there’s also wine and cheese upon arrival. Perfect!
Villa Cheminée, France
Ever dreamed about staying in an industrial tower? Or how about a tiny little house on top of an industrial tower? No, me neither until I set eyes upon Villa Cheminée, on the banks of the Loire River in northern France.
This art installation was designed by Tatzu Nishi as part of a spectacular art project in the region. The industrial tower is not actually real and the house on top is absolutely adorable, if a little small. I’d love to stay here!
La Balade des Gnomes, Belgium
How about a stay inside a giant wooden Trojan horse? If that’s not quirky, unusual and different then I certainly don’t know what is.
The structure is built entirely from natural materials and even features a wooden jacuzzi bath!
The Old Station Waiting Room and Railway Carriage, Norfolk, UK
If you’re a lover of train travel or all things vintage then this will suit you perfectly. You can chose to stay in either the old waiting room of the station, which has all been refurbished and made cosy or you can stay in and old railway carriage itself.
Costa Verde, Quepos, Costa Rica
I’m a bit of a self-confessed plane geek so I’d love the chance to stay in this vintage Boeing 727 from 1965 which has been transformed into a two bedroom suite.
It’s also positioned 15 metres high up over the jungle canopy so that when you glance out the windows it appears as though you’re really flying. Wow!
Icehotel, Sweden
Icehotel is now in it’s 24th season and shows no signs of it’s popularity disappearing.
There are snow rooms, ice rooms, northern lights rooms and art suites, all of which are different but equally amazing.
Guests are supplied with the warmest of gear upon arrival and are given a ‘survival course’ into how to sleep in freezing temperatures. Sounds tough but worth it!
So, which one of these unusual places would you like to stay in most? I pick the plane!
