Edinburgh Dungeons
I went to Edinburgh Dungeons with my friends to learn a bit more about the history of Edinburgh, little did we know what we were getting ourselves in for. We booked online for the morning session, just to start our day off right…with complete terror! Around the dungeons there are plenty of places to go for coffee or food before going on the tour. We were a bit early so took a walk up the Royal Mile to the Castle before going in. As we got to the Dungeons we were all a bit nervous and didn’t really know what to expect.
In the Edinburgh Dungeons
As you go down into the Dungeon’s you’ll notice the incredible special effects and general spooky atmosphere. The tour starts very theatrically, as it continues to be throughout the whole tour. We were told the story of the Dungeons in Edinburgh and dramatic re-enactments of when they were used and how they were used. The special effects throughout the tour were amazing, from moving seat to people sneaking up behind you, you were always being surprised. We spent the whole time both laughing and crying, both from being afraid and it being funny. It was such an enjoyable full experience. The obligatory walk through the gift shop at the end had some nice souvenir bits and pieces as well as some general souvenirs for Edinburgh, perfect for the tourist community. We booked our tickets online before going and the student price we got was £15, and well worth the money!
I would recommend going to the Edinburgh Dungeons to anyone who is visiting Edinburgh for a weekend and is interested in some touristy fun.
Where to stay in Edinburgh
During our girls weekend to Edinburgh we used AirBnB to rent a whole flat for the full weekend. I couldn’t recommend this option enough because it worked out so perfectly for us. It was cheaper and actually a lot more handy for us getting ready and planning our day out. We stayed in Edinburgh Old Town area so everything was basically on our front door.
