Branch out this year and discover these enchanting woodland retreats

You might be wondering what on earth we are about to show you but trust us, you need to see these. Yes, folks, tree house holidays are bang on trend and very much big business these days, and rightly so. Who wouldn’t want to relive their childhood, taking a break in a holiday home that is just magical. Whether it’s to thrill the kids at half term, hide out in a romantic, dreamy bolthole with your other half, or perhaps you just fancy being at one with nature and the great outdoors, these tree houses are something else.  This week, we’ve picked out some of the best tree house accommodation in great locations and they are just lush! There was a lot of whooping, ooohing and ahhhhing at tripsology HQ as we put this blog together.

Some of you might remember being a kid, sitting up a tree with nothing more than one of our Mum’s sheets draped around the branches and this was the nearest we could get to our tree house palace. Well, let me tell you, things have moved on and some of these places are fit for a king. Holiday tree houses are kitted out like luxury hotels and apartments with bespoke kitchens, hot tubs, balconies and gorgeous décor. In short, they have all mod cons.

Our hand-picked selection will take you to fairy-tale properties in England, France, Finland, Sweden and even as far as the USA.

Here’s our top suggestions for tree house holidays in the UK and abroad…aren’t they fabulous?!

You’ll be barking up the right tree by booking any one of them.

Chewton Glen, Hampshire, England

If you’re not quite convinced that tree houses can be just like a five-star hotel and if the height of luxury is a pre-requisite, look no further than Chewton Glen. Here you’ll find a choice of sumptuous suites among the treetops. Choose from the Studio, the Loft Suite, The Hideaway Suite or The Yews for high end retreats that you’ll never want to leave.

The Bird’s Nest, Sweden

If the urge to stay in your tree house and hibernate from the world is just too strong, The Bird’s Nest treehouse is just the place for you. Wind down in this super cosy bolthole as you recharge the batteries in a tranquil setting before you need to spread your wings and fly back to reality. Inspired by a sea eagle’s nest spotted by the owner on a fishing trip, this quirky twiggy den is as delightful as is it unique.

Birds Nest treehouse

The UFO, Sweden

The Bird’s Nest is actually part of The Treehotel complex in the village of Harads, Sweden and offers seven amazing pods you can stay in among the treetops. Another one that was a real talking point is the UFO. This tree house is suitable for five people, ideally two adults and two or three kids. This will really wow the little ones as they hide out in their very own flying saucer spaceship in the woods. It really is out of this world.

The Woodsman’s Treehouse, Dorset

This is a cracker…there’s a hot tub, a sauna, a hot outdoor shower (don’t worry there’s also a free-standing copper bath inside) and a hammock to relax in whenever it takes your fancy, all in the heart of the Dorset woods.  The house also features luxury fittings, a fully equipped kitchen and a king-size bed to curl up in when night falls.

Suitable for two people, this is an ideal choice for a romantic getaway and fall in love all over again.

Monbazillac Treehouse, France

Ooh la la…if a taste of palace life is what you’re after but can’t quite afford the real thing, the Monbazillac is the perfect alternative. Modelled on a traditional French chateau, you can enjoy fantastic views from the turret towers or chill out in the terrace hot tub and be queen of the castle in your very own treehouse retreat in the Dordogne.

You might be thinking that tree houses are only fit for summer weather but they’re not, you can stay all year round. However, one or two caught our eye that just scream winter wonderland to us and whereby they are equally appealing in the sunshine, they just look sublime in the snow.

Arctic Treehouse Hotel, Finland

The nest like Arctic Tree House suites are stylishly decorated and have everything you could need – cosy beds, free Wi-Fi, minibar/fridge and an espresso machine. The views over the treetops are truly amazing; just imagine seeing the Northern Lights or the Midnight Sun from the comfort of your bed. Bliss!
